红领巾瓜报 Alumna Alaina Mahoney on Similarities Between Metalworking and Painting

When 红领巾瓜报 alumna, Alaina Mahoney, , BFA ’11 Painting, was a student, she joined the on-campus group, Iron Corp, where she learned how to combine the art of painting and the craft of metalwork. 聽As owner of her own blacksmith shop,聽 A.M. Design & Fabrication, she helps other artists design and fabricate their projects 鈥 most recently, Destiny Palmer鈥檚聽sculpture, 鈥淚 AM Codman Sq.鈥

Mahoney shared that she loves metalwork because it’s like painting: 聽鈥淭here鈥檚 all these different ways of painting. In blacksmithing, there鈥檚 all these different ways of mark-making.鈥
